Chrome extension - record without a bot

Records Google Meet, Zoom, and Teams calls straight from the browser tab - no bot joins your meeting, no extra participant, nothing on the guest list. Just you, the call, and a transcript afterwards.

How do I install it?

Open RecordX in the Chrome Web Store and click Add to Chrome. Pin the icon from the toolbar puzzle menu so it's there when a call starts. Edge and Brave work too.

Click Start and nothing happens

Be on the call tab when you press Start - Chrome only captures audio from the tab you're looking at. If it still won't start, reload the call tab and try again.

No mic prompt, or it's blocked

Open RecordX and tap Start - Chrome will re-ask for the mic. If Chrome remembered a Block, open chrome://settings/content/microphone and switch RecordX back to Allow.

Can I hide the "Recording" badge?

No - and it's deliberate. Most US states and EU countries require everyone on a call to know it's being recorded. The badge is how we keep you on the right side of that.

Android app

How do I install it?

Open RecordX on Google Play and tap Install. iPhone is on the roadmap - until then, use the web app on iOS.

Recording won't start

Open Settings β†’ Apps β†’ RecordX β†’ Permissions and allow the microphone. For long meetings, also turn off battery optimisation under Settings β†’ Battery so the phone doesn't pause us in the background.

Does it keep recording with the screen off?

Yes - and through Bluetooth headsets. A persistent notification lets you stop or pause without unlocking. If the phone reboots mid-call, we recover what was captured up to that point.

Web app

Recording in the browser

Tap Record and allow the mic. Great for in-person meetings or voice notes. For long calls on the move, the Android app is more reliable.

What can I upload?

Audio: MP3, WAV, M4A, OGG, FLAC, WebM. Video: MP4, WebM - we pull the audio track out. Up to 500 MB per file. Big files are fine - we upload in pieces so a flaky connection doesn't restart it.

Long calls on a phone browser

Mobile browsers cap us at 20 minutes - they pause us when you lock or switch apps. For longer recordings on the go, install the Android app.

Calendar auto-join

Have RecordX join meetings for me

Connect your calendar and RecordX joins your Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, Webex, and Zoom meetings on its own. It arrives a couple of minutes early, records the call, and the transcript is waiting when you get back to your desk.

Connect from Settings › Integrations. Supported today: Microsoft Outlook (Microsoft 365 work accounts and personal Outlook.com) and Google Calendar (Gmail and Google Workspace). Read-only access - RecordX only looks at your upcoming events to find meeting links.

Skip a meeting or turn it off

You can pause auto-join for a single meeting or switch the whole integration off in Settings › Integrations. Disconnecting also revokes RecordX's read-only calendar access.

Google Calendar isn't showing up for me

Google Calendar auto-join is rolling out gradually while Google verifies our read-only calendar scope. Microsoft Outlook is available to everyone today.

Teams and pooled minutes

How does a team plan work?

A team buys the Business plan by the seat. Each seat is $30 a month and adds 600 minutes to one shared pool that everyone on the team draws from. Three seats is $90 a month and 1,800 minutes - any one person can use all of them. No per-person cap.

Start a team from Settings › Organization. Annual billing saves 20%, same as a personal plan.

How do I join a team?

A team admin sends you an invite by email, and you accept it from Settings › Organization. If your team is on Microsoft single sign-on and the admin has turned on automatic joining, signing in with your work account is enough - no invite needed.

You cannot hold a paid personal plan and a team seat at once. Cancel the personal subscription first, or you would be paying twice.

What can a team admin see?

Admins can open any member's recordings, including transcripts and summaries. It is worth saying out loud to your team before you invite them. Admins can also turn off share links and data export for members - these are enforced on the server, not just hidden in the interface.

Share a recording with the team

Open History, hover a recording, and tap the little people icon on the right. Confirm, and it shows up under the Team tab next to History for everyone in your organization. Tap the icon again to stop sharing - nothing is shared automatically, this is a per-recording opt-in.

The Team tab only appears once you belong to an organization. Empty until someone shares a recording.

Share a summary template with the team

In Settings › Templates, open one of your custom templates and tap Share with team. Everyone in your organization who does not already have their own template for that conversation type will get it. If you tweak the template later, tap Reshare with team to push the new version.

Sharing is per conversation type - one team template per type. Members can still keep or write their own; a personal template always wins over the team one.

What happens when I leave the team?

Leaving a team, or being removed by an admin, puts you back on the free plan with 60 minutes a month. Your past recordings stay in your account.

Sending a meeting bot

What does "Send bot" do?

Paste a Google Meet, Zoom, Teams, or Webex link and a polite RecordX bot joins the call to record - useful when you can't be there yourself, or when you don't want your own device tied up. Everyone sees "RecordX" in the participant list.

Send it from the web app, the Android app, or the Chrome extension - same account, same balance.

Bot didn't join or got kicked

Some meetings require the host to admit the bot from the lobby. If nobody lets it in, it leaves and you'll see "couldn't join". Re-send once the host is on the call, or record locally instead.

Credits, transcripts, privacy

How do credits work?

One minute of recording or upload uses one credit. The same balance covers all three apps. You get 60 free minutes every month - top up any time on the pricing page.

I ran out of credits

New recordings pause until you top up. Existing transcripts stay safe. Top up on the pricing page.

The transcript has errors

Quality depends on what we can hear. Record somewhere quiet, use a decent mic, and pick the right language before you start.

Share or download a transcript

Open the transcript and tap Share. Get a link, email it, or download as PDF, Word, or plain text. You can hide names and numbers before sharing.

Is my data safe?

Yes. Everything's encrypted in transit and at rest. We delete your audio automatically within 24 hours - only the transcript stays. Details in the Privacy Policy.

Delete a recording

Open your History, tap the trash icon, confirm. The transcript, summaries, shared links, and speaker labels are removed right away. To wipe everything at once, open a request.

Delete my account

Open Settings β†’ Account β†’ Danger Zone β†’ Delete Account. Type "DELETE" to confirm. Locked out? Open a request.

Still stuck?

We usually reply within a day.
