What “phone in the app” actually means

Why nobody else does this
We checked. In 2026:
- Otter - no native phone recording. Integrates with RingCentral, JustCall, Aircall, Salesloft. You need one of those first.
- Fireflies - no native phone recording. Same story: Aircall, OpenPhone, RingCentral, Zoom Phone integrations. Their own docs say “Fireflies cannot record phone calls.”
- Fathom, Read.ai, tl;dv, Fellow - video meetings only. Phone is out of scope.
- Wave - closest peer, has a phone bridge feature, but the transcription and summary quality is behind.
The gap is real. Notetakers stop at the call. RecordX owns the call.
