YouTube to transcript
How it works today
- Grab the audio or video file for the YouTube clip. For content you own, use YouTube Studio to download it. For third-party content, only use material you have permission to transcribe.
- Sign up at recordx.io/register.
- Open the RecordX web app and drop the file into the upload zone. MP3, M4A, WAV, MP4, and other common formats work.
- Read the transcript, edit speaker names, and copy or export the text.
Why not use YouTube's captions
YouTube's auto-captions are line-broken subtitles built for on-screen reading. They usually skip punctuation, drop speaker names, and don't produce a readable document. RecordX gives you a full-sentence transcript with speaker turns, timestamps, and a summary you can paste into notes.

How do I get the audio from a YouTube video?
