FLAC is a lossless compression format - typically half the size of the equivalent WAV with zero quality loss. It is what audiophiles, archivists, and journalists tend to store long-term. How it works

Formats supported
FLAC in any common configuration - mono or stereo, 16 or 24 bit, 44.1 kHz through 96 kHz. Metadata tags (title, artist, album) are preserved but ignored for the transcript itself.

FAQ
Is FLAC too big to upload?
Uploads cap at 500 MB. FLAC is lossless-compressed, so a one-hour stereo 16-bit 44.1 kHz FLAC is around 300 MB - well under the limit. Long 24-bit stereo recordings can hit the cap; convert to 16-bit if that happens.
Do I need to convert FLAC to WAV first?
No. Upload FLAC as-is. Converting only adds a decode step and adds no accuracy.
Will speaker separation work on a FLAC field recording?
Yes. Diarization runs on acoustic cues, and lossless input actually helps a little because there are no compression artefacts to work around.
What if my FLAC is a music track with talking over it?
The engine focuses on speech but background music can bleed into the transcript on very loud sections. Best results come from clean voice recordings.
