What this tool does
Recording a Google Meet call requires a Business, Enterprise, or Education Google Workspace edition, and only the host or a co-host can start the recording. When the call ends, Meet writes an MP4 to the organiser's Google Drive and emails a link. Meet's own built-in transcript is captions-quality, not a proper editable transcript. Drop the MP4 into RecordX and you get the real thing: speaker turns, timestamps, and a summary.

How it works
- Upload the file. Sign up at recordx.io, open the web app, and drag your file into the upload area.
- Wait for the transcript. Short files come back in seconds; longer files a few minutes. Speaker separation and the AI summary run automatically.
- Download or ask the AI. Read, edit, and export the transcript, copy the summary and action items, or ask questions of the transcript in the built-in editor.
Formats supported
The MP4 that Meet writes to Drive. Meet also exports a .vtt caption file - upload the MP4 for cleaner speaker separation. Both work as sources.
What kinds of Meet recordings work
- Standard MP4 recording - the file Meet drops into the organiser's Google Drive under "Meet Recordings".
- Recordings from a linked calendar event - the same MP4 but linked directly from the Calendar event.

FAQ
How do I record a Google Meet call?
Recording is a Google Workspace paid feature (Business Standard and up). During the call the host clicks Activities -> Recording -> Start. Personal @gmail.com accounts cannot record calls.
Where does the recording go?
Google Drive of the organiser, under "My Drive" -> "Meet Recordings". A link is emailed to the organiser and the person who started the recording.
Can I use Meet's live captions instead?
Live captions are for accessibility during the call and are not stored. For a lasting, editable transcript, upload the MP4.
What if my Meet was in a mix of English and Hebrew?
