RecordX + Gong (data import)
How it works
Not live yet. Gong sync is on the RecordX roadmap and the direction is still being scoped: import Gong-recorded calls into a unified RecordX library, push RecordX summaries into Gong Deals, or both. Today, RecordX and Gong live in separate worlds - a transcript export from the RecordX web app can be imported into Gong by hand, but there is no automatic connector. Email us at support@recordx.io for early access.
Get started with RecordX today
- Create your RecordX account at recordx.io/register.html.
- Install the RecordX Chrome extension and record a sales call - transcript and summary land in RecordX.
- Export transcripts for Gong until the direct data-import connector ships.
- Email us at support@recordx.io to be notified when Gong sync goes live.
Planned use cases
- Feed RecordX transcripts into Gong analytics without switching recorders.
- Keep Gong as the coaching layer while RecordX handles capture.
- Cross-link the source transcript in RecordX for full context.
Planned scope
Two directions being scoped in parallel. (A) Import: RecordX pulls Gong Calls via the Gong API into the unified library, so search runs across Gong plus Zoom, Meet, Teams, Webex, and phone from one query. (B) Export: RecordX pushes the AI summary and action items into the linked Gong Deal or Contact record so a Gong-first sales team sees the notes without switching tools. Which lands first depends on what early-access teams need most.
Planned OAuth / API
- Gong exposes a REST API that a Gong Technical Administrator provisions by issuing an access key and secret on the Gong side (there is no classic three-legged OAuth flow for third-party apps).
- When RecordX ships this connector, expect the setup to include pasting a Gong access key and secret into RecordX Settings, plus picking which teams or users are in scope. Nothing is granted today because no connector is live.
- Gong's API is read-mostly - writing back a summary or note to a Deal is limited to specific endpoints, which is why the export direction is being scoped separately from the import one.
Pricing and limits (planned)
- Gong is Enterprise-priced and negotiated per-org - RecordX cannot resell or discount Gong itself.
- RecordX-side, Gong sync is planned as a Business-tier feature at launch. Free-tier accounts will still be able to export transcripts by hand.
- Gong's own per-tenant API rate limits will apply. RecordX will queue and backoff on 429s rather than drop syncs on the floor.
When to pick which
- Gong is the right primary tool when you're a large sales team on a single CRM and need deep coaching, scorecards, and pipeline analytics.
- RecordX is the right primary tool when you want unified capture across every meeting and call (not only sales), a cross-platform library, and simple summaries plus action items without a Sales Enablement product footprint.
- Both makes sense when Gong handles the sales pipeline and RecordX handles internal plus non-sales customer meetings. The planned connector is what makes the "both" story stop requiring copy-paste.
Alternatives while waiting
Chorus (also on the RecordX roadmap), Fireflies, and Otter offer Gong-adjacent capabilities. Sales teams that need Gong-level analytics today should keep Gong and revisit RecordX for the meetings and calls Gong doesn't cover. Everyone else can use RecordX today for capture and manually paste transcripts into Gong when a Gong-licensed teammate needs them.
