RecordX + Trello

What it does today

The Trello sync isn't shipped. Every RecordX meeting produces an action-item list in RecordX - owner, verb, due date if it was spoken - and you paste them onto a Trello board. The planned direct sync will call Trello's REST API v1 to create cards on the list you nominate, filling in members and due date from the action-item metadata.

Setup (once the sync ships)

  1. Create your RecordX account at recordx.io/register.html.
  2. Install the RecordX Chrome extension.
  3. Open settings in the RecordX web app and click Connect Trello.
  4. Authorise the Trello app for your account and workspace.
  5. Pick a default board and list (usually "Inbox" or "To do").
  6. Optionally add labels for RecordX-created cards so you can filter them.
  7. Record a test meeting with a clear action item and confirm the card lands.

Data sync (planned)

Data Direction Notes
Action items RecordX → Trello One card per action item on the mapped list.
Card name RecordX → Trello First sentence of the action item.
Description RecordX → Trello Full text plus a link back to the RecordX meeting.
Members RecordX → Trello Resolved from the owner named in the action item.
Due date RecordX → Trello Set when a date is spoken in the meeting.
Labels RecordX → Trello Optional "recordx" label so you can automate on it.
Full transcript Not synced Kept in RecordX; the description link is the entry point.

Permissions and scopes

Connect uses Trello's OAuth 1.0 authorization flow (Power-Up style). The planned request is read for the boards you nominate (to fetch lists, labels, and members) and write to create cards. RecordX doesn't request account-level scopes or ask to see boards you haven't mapped.

Pricing and limits

RecordX doesn't charge extra for the Trello sync. Trello's REST API works on every plan including Free. Trello rate-limits per API key at roughly 300 requests / 10 seconds per key and 100 requests / 10 seconds per token; typical meeting volumes are far below that. Butler automations, dashcards, and custom fields on paid plans work on RecordX cards the same as any other.

FAQ

Is the Trello integration live?
Not yet. The RecordX web app produces action items for every meeting; you copy them into Trello. The planned integration uses Trello's REST API to create cards on the board and list you nominate.
Which Trello plan do I need?
Trello's REST API works on every plan including Free. Standard, Premium and Enterprise add features like advanced automations and multiple views that RecordX cards will inherit automatically.
How is the list chosen?
You pick a default list (typically 'Inbox' or 'To do') and can override per meeting tag - meetings tagged bug go to the Bugs board's Triage list, etc.
Can I attach the transcript?
The card description will contain a link back to the RecordX meeting; the full transcript stays in RecordX so cards don't bloat. Trello has a 16 KB description limit anyway.
What's the workaround today?
Zapier or Make plus the RecordX action-item webhook can create Trello cards today. Or copy the action item block and paste as a new card.
